Galactic Desires
Location: Chandratal Lake, India
It’s a dream of every photographer to visit the upper himalayas and witness the endless play of distant objects in our night sky. It was on the 29th of June 2021, The temperature dipped below 0 degrees when I happened to be at one of the most mystical and a highly protected natural site, Tso Chikgma or Chandra Taal, located at an altitude of 4300m (14,100 ft) in the mountains of Spiti valley on Samudra tal plateau, Himalayas. This location is pristine in it’s nature, being one of the two high-altitude wetlands of India designated as Ramsar sites.
I feel lucky enough to have been here after several tyre punctures, motorbike breakdowns and severe waterfall crossing, cold sleep deprived nights just to witness the magic of nature, untouched and unaltered by the human interventions. I therefore share with with you an astounding moment I captured at the night spent on the camping grounds of Tso Chikgma.
